“"The installation of these hoardings is a very visible milestone for Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital. They show the people behind the project — our patients, staff and partners — and reflect the collaboration that is shaping every part of this new hospital. CCRH is being designed to bring research closer to patients, helping us detect cancer earlier, personalise treatment and improve outcomes for patients across our region and far beyond."

Hoardings featuring patients and staff have been installed at the site of the future Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital (CCRH), marking a visible step forward for the specialist cancer research facility.
The newly installed hoardings at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus site showcase individuals, including members of the CCRH Patient Advisory Group, whose experiences are shaping the design and care provision of the new hospital. The unveiling was celebrated on-site by staff, project team members, and patients.
CCRH aims to integrate NHS clinical expertise from Addenbrooke’s Hospital with world-leading research. This integration is intended to facilitate earlier cancer diagnosis, personalised treatment, and improved patient outcomes across the East of England, the UK, and internationally. The hospital is being designed collaboratively with patients and staff, combining modern clinical spaces with three University of Cambridge research institutes to foster collaboration between clinicians, researchers, and industry partners.
The hoardings' installation coincides with ongoing pre-construction work, with main construction scheduled to commence in 2027. The project team is also preparing to submit its Full Business Case later this year, representing the final stage of the business case process.
The hoardings follow the recent release of a film narrated by Davina McCall, which outlines the vision for CCRH and its anticipated impact on patients, staff, and researchers. The project, titled 'Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital: Power of Proximity', is supported by ongoing work with staff from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Cambridge, alongside patients and their families, to develop clinical pathways and enhance patient outcomes.
Philanthropy is expected to play a significant role in improving the lives of cancer patients. The fundraising campaign for CCRH is a joint initiative between Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) and the University of Cambridge.
