The first Thurrock Cares Warm Up For Winter roadshow successfully took place at the Civic Hall in Grays yesterday, Thursday 22 October, providing residents with access to vital advice and support services.

The event, a collaboration between Thurrock Council, NHS partners, voluntary sector organisations, and micro-enterprises, served as a comprehensive 'one-stop shop' for individuals seeking assistance during the colder months. Visitors engaged directly with organisations to discuss financial aid, benefits, food support, energy advice, and services for older people and carers, alongside community activities and winter wellbeing initiatives.
A range of health services were available, including winter vaccinations. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in activities such as seated yoga, promoting active and connected living throughout winter. The roadshows are part of the ongoing Thurrock Cares campaign, designed to help residents access practical support and local services year-round.
Councillor Richard Bingley, Leader of Thurrock Council, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, "It was great to see residents and local organisations come together at the first Thurrock Cares roadshow in Grays. These events are all about making support easy to access. Whether someone is worried about the rising cost-of-living, wanting to find activities in their community or seeking health support ahead of winter, the roadshows bring a range of services together in one place. I would encourage anyone who thinks they may benefit from support this winter to come along to the next event in West Thurrock and speak to the teams on hand."
The next Thurrock Cares Warm Up For Winter roadshow is scheduled for Monday 26 October, from 1pm to 4pm at Cowdray Hall, West Thurrock. Further events are planned throughout November at various locations, including Aveley Library & Hub on Wednesday 4 November, The Springhouse in Corringham on Tuesday 10 November, and Tilbury Community Association on Friday 20 November.
Residents are encouraged to attend these drop-in sessions to find help with financial support and benefits, food and household essentials, energy and heating advice, support for older people and carers, community activities and volunteering, respiratory health and winter wellbeing, vaccination services, and warm spaces.
