A popular route through Langdon Hills Country Park has been improved thanks to a partnership between Thurrock Council’s Ranger Service and the Clean and Green Team, enhancing access for visitors and protecting wildlife habitats.

Sections of the horse ride and cycle route connecting Hawksbury Bush and One Tree Hill have been restored. These routes had become increasingly difficult to use due to overgrown hedgerows and vegetation.
The project involved a coordinated programme of hedge maintenance, utilising specialist skills, equipment, and resources to address priority areas requiring urgent attention. This work has reopened key sections of the route for horse riders, cyclists, and walkers.
The improvements also contribute to safeguarding valuable wildlife habitats by ensuring that future maintenance can be carried out without disturbing environmentally sensitive meadow areas.

"This is a great example of Civic Pride in action. By bringing together the expertise of our Ranger Service and Clean and Green Team, we've been able to make a real difference to one of Thurrock's most valued green spaces. Residents and visitors can now enjoy easier access to this popular route, while important meadow habitats are better protected for the future."

Councillor Richard Bingley · Leader of Thurrock Council
The collaborative effort is expected to ensure that Langdon Hills Country Park remains a welcoming, accessible, and well-managed space for future generations.
