“"While there is still work to do to confirm detailed arrangements and next steps, this is an encouraging development. We will be working with partners to establish the full project team so we can hit the ground running the moment we have the final details from government. The project team will work hand in glove with the local council, community committee and elected members."

NHS Essex has welcomed comments from Health Minister Karin Smyth in Parliament on 14 October, expressing government support for a new neighbourhood health centre in Maldon.
These comments represent an encouraging development in the ongoing efforts to secure long-term investment for modern, suitable health facilities for the local community. Following extensive public consultation on previous proposals for St Peter’s Hospital, the NHS has collaborated with residents, community representatives, and partners to safeguard existing services while formulating plans for a new health facility.
NHS Essex expressed gratitude for the Minister’s acknowledgement of the need for investment in Maldon’s health infrastructure. The organisation highlighted the tireless, years-long campaign by local people for a sustainable solution, noting their determination has been crucial in reaching this stage. Thanks were extended to the Save Maldon Medical Services Group, Maldon District Council, and local Members of Parliament for their support and advocacy.
NHS Essex reiterated its commitment to collaborating with the community, local partners, and the government to realise the shared ambition of establishing modern, accessible health facilities in Maldon. The organisation will continue to work with partners to define the subsequent steps and will provide updates to the local community as plans progress.
