I urge residents, businesses and community organisations to get involved in the Review. That way we can be sure that any future arrangements are a true reflection of the wishes and priorities of our Bushey community. The more people share their views, the better we meet the wishes and needs of all the Bushey community.

Hertsmere Borough Council has initiated a Community Governance Review for Bushey, inviting residents, businesses, and community organisations to voice their opinions on the potential creation of a parish council.
The review follows a petition from local residents requesting the establishment of a parish council for the town. Councillors at Full Council agreed to the review, which provides an opportunity for stakeholders in Bushey to share their views on the matter.
A Community Governance Review is a legal process designed to assess and potentially alter local governance arrangements, ensuring they align with the identities and interests of local communities. Parish councils can undertake various community-focused activities, such as organising events, managing parks and play areas, and representing community aspirations.
Should a parish council be established, it would be funded through a 'parish precept', a supplementary charge added to council tax bills to support local services and facilities.
The first stage of the Review, open to residents, businesses, community groups, and individuals working within the borough, will run until 31 January 2027.
Cllr Chris Gray, Cabinet Member for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, Economic Development and Transformation, encouraged participation, stating, “I urge residents, businesses and community organisations to get involved in the Review. That way we can be sure that any future arrangements are a true reflection of the wishes and priorities of our Bushey community. The more people share their views, the better we meet the wishes and needs of all the Bushey community.”
Further details regarding the review are accessible on the Hertsmere Borough Council website.
