The council is proposing to change a section of High Street, from the roundabout between Ireton Court and Letchmore Road northwards to the junction with James Way, from a 'Prohibited Street' to a 'Consent Street'. Trading in this area will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances, with each application considered on a case-by-case basis.
Additionally, the outdoor market site in the Town Centre, located north-west of Town Square, is proposed for removal from the list of Consent Streets due to site redevelopment.

The final decision will be made by Stevenage Borough Council on 8 December 2026. Representations regarding the proposed resolution must be received in writing by the council no later than 24 November 2026.
