Central Bedfordshire Council has launched its first 'Best Start' Family Hub in Dunstable, alongside a new online resource, to provide easier access to advice, support, and services for families and young people across the area.

Families in Central Bedfordshire can now find trusted information and connect with local services more easily following the introduction of the area's first Best Start Family Hub in Dunstable and a new Best Start in Life online resource. The initiative aims to help parents, carers, young people, and families access support for various needs, from preparing for a baby to seeking advice on child development and special educational needs.
The new hub and online platform are designed to streamline the process of finding help, offering new activities, additional family support, and an enhanced offer for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This includes dedicated inclusion practitioners and family workers, as well as early years education and childcare advice drop-ins.
A dedicated youth hub has also been developed on the same site, providing young people with access to support for education, employment, training, and independent living skills. The Best Start in Life programme reflects the council's commitment to improving outcomes for children and reducing inequalities by investing in early help and strengthening family support.
“

"The launch of our first Best Start Family Hub and online offer is an important step forward for families across Central Bedfordshire. We know every family needs support at different times, but finding the right help is not always easy. Best Start in Life is about making that experience simpler."

Councillor Mackey, Executive Member for Children and Families, highlighted that the initiative brings services together in one place and enhances support through new activities and a strengthened SEND offer.
