Braintree Town Hall has been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s Essex Wedding Awards, specifically in the category for historic wedding venues.

The awards celebrate the best of the wedding industry, recognising talented businesses across the county for the past 15 years. Located in the centre of Braintree, the iconic Town Hall was gifted to the town by William Julien Courtauld and designed by architect Emanuel Vincent Harris. Dating back to the 1920s, the building features a striking clock tower and retains many original elements, including wood panelling, murals, and stained-glass windows.
With these historic features preserved, the council-owned venue provides an elegant and memorable setting for weddings. Councillor Toby Williams, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Wellbeing at Braintree District Council, expressed delight at the nomination.
