Clacton is set to hold its annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations on Sunday, 8 November, with hundreds of residents, veterans, and civic leaders expected to gather to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The town's annual service will commence at Clacton Town Hall, with the parade stepping off from The Grove at 10:30am towards the Memorial Garden on the seafront. The parade will be led by new Parade Marshal Kevin Sawyer and will feature local Scouts, Guides, and other organisations, with the band of the Essex Wing RAF Air Cadets at its head.
Tendring District Council (TDC) Chairman Ann Oxley will take the salute outside the Town Hall before joining veterans, dignitaries, and Clacton Royal British Legion Chairman Richard Geddes at the memorial. At 11am, the town will observe a moment of silence as wreaths are laid. The service will be conducted by Reverend David Lower, with bugler Ellie Bould sounding the Last Post. The Salvation Army Band will also perform at the memorial.
“

"Remembrance Sunday is one of the most moving moments in our civic calendar, when generations stand side by side in gratitude and respect. I hope residents will join us in paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and in showing our support for veterans and serving personnel today."

Ann Oxley · Councillor, TDC Chairman
“

"Clacton always turns out in force for Remembrance Sunday, and that shared moment of silence sends a powerful message that their courage and sacrifice will not be forgotten. Our commitment to the Armed Forces community continues throughout the year, supporting veterans, reservists, cadets and service families across Tendring."

Dan Casey · Councillor, Clacton RBL President and TDC’s Armed Forces Champion
Temporary road closures will be in effect around Clacton town centre, including The Grove, Alexander Road, Station Road, Pier Avenue (between the town square and Pier Gap), and parts of Marine Parade West and East near the seafront gardens, to ensure the safe running of the parade. Remembrance services will also be held in other towns and villages across the Tendring district, including Manningtree at 2:45pm.
