“"The course was challenging but incredibly rewarding, and the support I have received from my colleagues has been invaluable - I truly couldn't have done it without them! I am extremely proud of this achievement, particularly having achieved a distinction in my end-point assessment, and I'm excited to build on this experience to further enhance the service and improve patient care."

Haleema Zaman has achieved Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) status following the completion of an intensive three-year MSc programme with University College London (UCL). She is the first Ophthalmology ACP in the East of England region.
Alongside her clinical duties, Haleema successfully completed examinations, a comprehensive portfolio, and a dissertation. This process has equipped her with enhanced skills in clinical practice, leadership, education, and research.
Working within the Eye Emergency department at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, Haleema is collaborating with colleagues to transform the service. Initial changes have already led to a reduction in overbookings, improved communication and referral pathways with primary care, and ensured patients receive timely and appropriate care from the correct team.
Haleema expressed particular gratitude for the professional and pastoral support, encouragement, and guidance provided throughout her ACP journey by Steve Joy, Divisional Operations Manager for Ophthalmology & OMFS; Carl Svasti-Salee, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Eye Emergency Lead; Rebecca George, Head Orthoptist; and Linda McInerney, Outgoing Clinical Lead.
