More than 60 residents gathered at Aveley Library & Hub on Wednesday 4 November for the Thurrock Cares Warm Up For Winter roadshow, accessing essential advice and support services.

The event, a collaboration between Thurrock Council, NHS partners, voluntary sector organisations, and micro-enterprises, provided a comprehensive 'one-stop shop' for practical assistance ahead of the colder months. Attendees received information on financial aid, benefits, food support, energy saving, and care for older people and carers. Health and wellbeing services, including winter vaccinations and advice on staying active, were also available.
This initiative is part of the ongoing Thurrock Cares campaign, designed to connect residents with local support services throughout the year. The Aveley event follows similar successful roadshows held in Grays and West Thurrock.
Further roadshows are scheduled for residents: on Tuesday 10 November at The Springhouse in Corringham (1pm to 4pm) and Friday 20 November at Tilbury Community Association (10am to 1pm). Residents are encouraged to attend these events to access help with financial matters, food, energy, community activities, volunteering, respiratory health, vaccinations, and maintaining social connections.
“

"It is fantastic that more than 60 residents came along to the Thurrock Cares roadshow in Aveley and took advantage of the wide range of support available. These events are designed to make it as easy as possible for residents to access help and advice in their local community. Whether people are looking for support with household finances, wanting to stay well this winter or simply find out what's available locally, there is something for everyone. I would encourage anyone who has not yet attended a roadshow to come along to one of the remaining events and speak to the organisations on hand."
