Southend-on-Sea City Council is launching 'Southend in Action', a week-long event from Monday 9 to Friday 13 November, to showcase the work of its teams, projects, and services that contribute to the city's improvement.

The initiative, running from Monday 9 to Friday 13 November, expands on the success of '24hrs in Southend' and aims to provide residents with a deeper understanding of the organisation's efforts. The week will feature videos, stories, and insights into various council activities, from major regeneration projects and community safety to business support, digital innovation, culture, and heritage.
Councillor Daniel Cowan, Leader of Southend-on-Sea City Council, stated that the event is an opportunity to highlight the daily work that keeps Southend moving and supports its communities. He emphasised that 'Southend in Action' will share stories residents might not typically see, covering areas such as active travel improvements, beach cleaning, and street safety, demonstrating the impact of work building a city to be proud of.
Colin Ansell, Chief Executive of Southend-on-Sea City Council, added that the week celebrates the expertise, innovation, and commitment of council colleagues, especially during ongoing financial challenges. He hopes the event will provide residents, staff, and visitors with a better understanding of the organisation's work and the people involved.
Highlights during the week are set to include updates on active travel improvements, the transformation of Better Queensway, efforts to maintain Southend's beaches, community safety initiatives, support for local businesses, heritage projects, digital service enhancements, and the regeneration of Leigh Port.
Residents can follow the 'Southend in Action' campaign across the Council's social media channels using the hashtag #SouthendInAction.
