The Royal British Legion's 2026 Poppy Appeal aims to highlight the unique challenges and sacrifices faced by Armed Forces families. To launch the Appeal, the RBL Brentwood Branch will begin collections around the local area and ensure people who want to donate and show support can get their poppy.
Dedicated volunteers will be collecting for the annual appeal over two weeks in Sainsbury’s in Brentwood, pubs, and shops, ensuring official Poppy Appeal merchandise is available. They will be taking donations and providing poppies to those wishing to show their support to the Armed Forces community, past and present.
Started in 1921, the Appeal aims to raise more than £50 million to fund the RBL’s vital work supporting serving personnel, veterans, and their families throughout their lives. The RBL provides support during deployment, helps with financial hardship, offers support after bereavement, and cares for loved ones in old age.
Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Nicky Cuthbert, stated: “The Poppy Appeal is an opportunity for us to show our support for those who serve, veterans and the families who stand alongside them. This year’s appeal reminds us that behind every person who serves is a family making sacrifices too. I would like to thank the Royal British Legion’s Brentwood branch and all the local volunteers who give their time to the appeal, as well as everyone who supports their efforts. Please give what you can to help this vital work continue.”
The RBL Brentwood branch also expressed thanks to the Air Training Corps, Combined Cadet Forces, Army Cadet Forces, Scouts, and Sea Cadets for volunteering for the Poppy Appeal and joining the Remembrance Day Parade and Services.
The people of Brentwood donated £72,781 last year to the Poppy Appeal.
