Dozens of volunteers participated in the Great British Beach Clean across Tendring's beaches, from Harwich to Point Clear, removing litter and protecting the local environment.

Residents and local groups have been commended for their dedication during this year's Great British Beach Clean, which saw a significant turnout across the Tendring coastline.
The initiative, organised by the Marine Conservation Society, took place on 27 September, with volunteers collecting and recording litter found on beaches between Harwich and Point Clear. This data helps build a comprehensive understanding of the rubbish impacting the UK's shores.
Several local organisations, including Harwich Litterpickers, Walton Wallys, Frinton Frombles, the Holland-on-Sea Bluetits, Greater Holland/Holland-on-sea Litterpickers, Clacton Volunteer Litterpickers, Tendring Primary Recycling, CleanupUK, and St Osyth and Point Clear Litterpickers, actively participated.
Tendring District Council (TDC) supported the clean-up efforts by providing waste bags, with additional equipment supplied by Rivercare Beachcare and CleanupUK.
“

"I would like to thank every single volunteer who took part in the Great British Beach Clean here in Tendring. Our beaches are one of our district’s greatest assets, and it is always inspiring to see local groups, residents and visitors coming together to help keep them clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone."

Adrian Smith · Tendring District Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment
Adrian Smith, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Environment, who joined volunteers in Clacton, highlighted the importance of the coastline and urged responsible waste disposal. He added, “Sadly, too much rubbish still ends up on our beaches, and I would again appeal to people to dispose of their waste responsibly and take their litter home if bins are full.”
Smith concluded by acknowledging the pride residents take in their coastline, stating, “The pride people take in our coastline is clear, and their efforts make a real difference for our beaches, our wildlife and the many people who enjoy visiting the Essex Sunshine Coast.”
