Cambridge's annual Fireworks Night is scheduled for Thursday, 5 November 2026, at Midsummer Common, promising the largest and most vibrant display to date.

The highly anticipated event, organised by Cambridge City Council, will commence at 6pm with entertainment from a live DJ and theatrical walkabout acts. The main fireworks display, produced by industry experts Pains Fireworks, is set to begin at 7pm, filling the sky with colour, noise, and light.
Pains Fireworks, a company with a history dating back to 1593, is returning to produce this year's display. Tom Cranmer, Sales and Design Manager for Pains Fireworks, stated, “This year’s display at Midsummer Common will be the biggest and best ever as we fill the sky with colour, noise and light! The show will be filled with a variety of new effects as the audience are wowed by the combination of colours and noises that fill the sky.” He added, “As a certified carbon neutral business, we’re looking forward to entertaining the amazing people of Cambridge whilst ensuring there’s no negative impact on the surrounding environment.” The company is officially carbon neutral, offsetting emissions through certified global environmental projects.
Attendees can enjoy food vendors available from 6pm onwards. The evening's entertainment includes unique walkabout acts such as Ghost Caribou by Thingumajig Theatre, featuring giant caribou puppets, and The Vortexes, with stilt-walking jellyfish puppets.
Cllr Mike Todd Jones, Cabinet Member for Communities at Cambridge City Council, commented, “Fireworks Night is one of Cambridge’s most popular annual events, bringing thousands of people together for an evening of entertainment and celebration. It is a pleasure to once again welcome residents and visitors to Midsummer Common for what promises to be a spectacular display. The council is grateful to our sponsors for their valued support in helping deliver this free community event.”
Principal sponsors for the 2026 event include RBC Brewin Dolphin, Jesus College, and Cambridge BID, with community sponsors Redgate and Peasgood and Skeates. Cambridge City Council encourages attendees to use public transport, cycle, or walk due to expected large crowds, with additional bus services provided by Stagecoach. Road closures will be in effect around Midsummer Common.
Donations are encouraged at the end of the evening, with all money raised contributing to the 2027 City Events budget. Fireworks Night 2026 is organised by the Cultural Services team at Cambridge City Council.
