The community garden at Doddinghurst Allotments is inviting residents to get involved, offering opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, improve wellbeing, develop horticultural skills, and meet new people.
Funded and supported by Brentwood Borough Council through the Brentwood Health and Wellbeing Board, the project provides a welcoming and inclusive space for growing fruit and vegetables, learning about gardening, and connecting with others. Participants of all gardening knowledge levels are welcome.
Students from Endeavour Cooperative Academy have already contributed significantly to the garden's development, assisting with planting and fencing. This involvement offers them practical learning experiences, a break from the classroom, and a chance to volunteer within their community.

"The Community Garden Project is a wonderful example of how council grants and funding invest in local spaces that bring people together and support healthier, happier communities. It gives residents the chance to spend time outdoors, learn new skills, meet others and enjoy the benefits that gardening can have for both physical and mental wellbeing. I would encourage anyone interested to find out more and get involved. Whether you are an experienced gardener or a complete beginner, this project offers a welcoming way to connect with others and contribute to the local community."

"From our perspective, the project provides a fantastic opportunity for our learners. It helps them develop practical and employability skills, teamwork, confidence and a real sense of ownership, while also encouraging them to contribute positively to the local community. The learners really enjoyed being involved in the project, and it's fantastic that they were able to make such a positive contribution. Thank you for providing them with such a meaningful opportunity. They really appreciated the support and guidance you all provided them too."
The garden relies on volunteer support and is seeking to expand its network of helpers. Financial contributions, however small, are also welcomed and will be used to purchase garden supplies. The project has also received sponsorship from Russell Phillips, General Manager and Director of Brentwood Golf Club, aiding its ongoing development for local residents.
